Hey crew!
It’s been another great week, and I have some new Religion 250 insights for you! This week we studied the Isaiah chapters in class, and we discussed how although they have a cultural misrepresentation of being “hard” and “difficult to understand”, the chapters in Isaiah are truly beautiful, simple writings with eternal truths to be gained. Here is hoping we can overcome those cultural stigmas and learn from Isaiah’s words.
The verses I want to focus on today are some we read in class. “For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee… [and] with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer… For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee” (Isaiah 54:7-10).
These are beautiful verses. In a world of great chaos and confusion, these verses speak peace to the troubled heart. When you feel forsaken and alone, remember that there is God in heaven who is your loving, eternal Father, who knows the end from the beginning. I love the words “everlasting kindness” from these verses. For me, these verses mean that I am never truly alone. There is a loving Father in Heaven who has a plan for me, and who sent His son to bear the sins, afflictions, and pains of this mortal existence to help raise me triumphant again to the throne of God. So, if for a while you feel forgotten, forsaken, and utterly alone, remember these words: “For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee.”
