Hey friends,
You know those letters people write sometimes with the phrase, "open when..."? Those are my favorite. Here is one I am writing for myself, but you can read it too, if you so desire. I hope it helps you too. Writing is the best medicine, or so they say. I'd highly recommend it :)
So, may I be dramatic for a moment? This was the WORST day of my life. Okay, not really, but it really has been an incredibly trying week. Let's just say that today alone my computer crashed, I didn't get a really important quiz submitted, and I also completely forgot to submit a paper due to the aforementioned technical difficulty. What a day. Although I'm inwardly crying, I can truly say that life is good, God is good, and it is all going to be okay. Why? Because God lives, and He lives for me, and for each of you, and with Him, everything will be okay. Promise.
So my post for today is similar to last week's in that I want to write more about the beautiful verses found in Romans 8. This is the entry I wrote tonight at the end of a very hard day. It is my testimony to you that it is going to be okay, in whatever it is you are going through--and while I may not understand it, God does. So go to Him and trust in His promise of peace to come.

Some of my favorite verses are
found in Romans. I found them in a time when
I was going through a very hard trial, and they still speak peace to my heart.
Romans 8:35-39
35 Who shall separate
us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress,
or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
37 Nay, in all these things we
are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor
angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be
able to separate us from the love of God, which is in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
These verses teach me a few principles: first, nothing can separate us from the love of
Christ. No sin, no mortal weakness, not
even us feeling unworthy of His love. He
always has and always will love us.
Second, with Christ, we are conquerors.
Conquerors of sin, death, disease, and everything that could ever beset
and trouble us.
These verses also remind me of President Monson’s quote, “Your
Heavenly Father loves you—each of you. That love never changes. It is not
influenced by your appearance, by your possessions, or by the amount of money
you have in your bank account. It is not changed by your talents and abilities.
It is simply there. It is there for you when you are sad or happy, discouraged
or hopeful. God’s love is there for you whether or not you feel you deserve
love. It is simply always there.”
I have also been pondering a question my professor posed in
class this week: what is it that makes us deserve
heaven? Various answers were shouted
out—covenants, ordinances, obedience, and someone even shared that we enter by
invitation. Yes, it is true that all of
these help to qualify us for heaven in a way.
But truly, we can never on our own deserve heaven. It is Christ that opens the way for us to
enter therein. He is the way, the truth,
and the life. He invites us to come unto
Him and be perfected in Him; He is our salvation and redemption. He is the way.
So, in your mortal
griefs and strife, I hope you remember these verses, and if you remember
nothing else, remember that you are a beloved son or daughter of God, and
nothing can separate you from His love.
Have a good week and stay strong friends!
With love always,
